About Shiv Temple :

                                            Shiv Temple (Old Photo)

There is a grand temple on the river bank next to the lake, where Panchmukhi Mahadev is installed along with Parvati. The temple was built in 1922 by Zamindar Natvarsingh Bariha of Padampur, Odisha. A marble Nandi bull is installed in its varandha, facing the temple gate.

There is also a Bhairaba Temple in front of  Main Temple facing the Main Temple Gate. As per sastra Bhairaba was the Security person (like gate keeper) of lord shiva. The person who came to the Shiv temple first pray at Bhairaba then gone to Main Temple .

The trek to the right of the temple can be reached in front of  the deep moat of the hill. When you look down, it hurts. On the hill one is seen as one placed. In the middle, where the water falls, a big lake has been formed, which is called Devdaraha.

Story behind Devdarha :

The depth is called Daraha (lake) in the regional language. Legend has it that a woodcutter was cutting wood on a hill on the side of the darha. His axe fell out of his hand and fell into the lake. He started cursing the god with sadness.

Then the god appeared from the darha. He wanted to give the woodcutter first the gold and then the silver axe. But he insisted on taking his own axe, not greedily. Then the deity was pleased and gave him an axe of gold and silver along with his axe.

It has since been known as Devdarha. There are small caves in the hills around Darha.
